politics

I’m giving it the first 2 year, maybe all 4. If we continue down the toilet and towards European ideals of governance, I’m just going to move where it works. I really don’t understand, given the American habit of fucking up good ideas, that our government seems to think it can make it work.

That said, I hope I get enough birthday money for that Keltech I want, sure won’t be able to get it next year, most likely.

Though, I spoke with a student of politics over there, my last night. His response was, “The foundation of your country does not allow for the type of governance we have over here. Good luck getting that started, the difference in foundation and culture will not allow for it to work. It will fail.”

I made it through the first hour of the debate, then the ADD kicked in, so I went to sleep. I’m seriously worried that I might actually be flown (or bused) across the border to Canadia when I come back from Denmark. I’m also curious if I can apply for asylum there. After the performance of those two, HOLY SHIT! WE’RE FUCKED! I should have paid attention to Murphy’s laws, when he stated that anything you think can’t get worse, will get worse. And boy is he right. In America, those that can’t lead, always do, and those that can, always sit in the back. *handforeheadstaplegun*

Dear Universe,

I get that you are trying to convince me to quit bending over and taking an ass-raping when I do things with my friends. But would you be so kind as to bless my friends with both the memory that they owe me money, and the good fortune for them to have enough to pay me back? I’m really getting sick of this crap, especially when I’m the one that makes the least amount of money out of all of them (and now have the highest amount of credit card debt).

Thanks.

Dear Presidential Candidates,

You both screwed the pooch in your debate. One of you I would never vote for, even under pain of death by a hot poker being rammed up my ass. The other, had potential because I believe in his ideals put forth a couple of weeks ago. But ideals do not the President make. And quite honestly, I’m not into being skull fucked, or anally raped. So pat yourselves on the back, I’m not voting for you.

Sincerely,
Someone who believes in the ideals of our founding fathers.

Since Randy is posting DFW quotes, I’ll throw my fav from his Rolling Stone article, page 10

Now you have to pay close attention to something that’s going to seem real obvious. There is a difference between a great leader and a great salesman. Because a salesman’s ultimate, overriding motivation is his own self-interest. If you buy what he’s selling, the salesman profits. So even though the salesman may have a very powerful, charismatic, admirable personality, and might even persuade you that buying really is in your interest (and it really might be) — still, a little part of you always knows that what the salesman’s ultimately after is something for himself. And this awareness is painful … although admittedly it’s a tiny pain, more like a twinge, and often unconscious. But if you’re subjected to enough great salesmen and salespitches and marketing concepts for long enough — like from your earliest Saturday-morning cartoons, let’s say — it is only a matter of time before you start believing deep down that everything is sales and marketing, and that whenever somebody seems like they care about you or about some noble idea or cause, that person is a salesman and really ultimately doesn’t give a shit about you or some cause but really just wants something for himself.

I highly suggest reading the paragraphs that come after this one too.

I’d love to comment on the recent rumour and public confession in the media and the various opinions being thrown around. But I honestly can’t articulate them enough.

That said, people are confusing me. They espouse certain ideas, and when someone who doesn’t espouse said idea runs into the problem said idea is set to diffuse, they seem to have a 3rd grade mentality and turn into the person who usually takes the low road. This goes for both sides, and why I’m not particularly attached to either side.

I’ve been wondering about this.

That said, the only female I’ve seen working on E. Paces (where the painted signs are located) is the Sheriff deputy not managing traffic. At any rate, I think some women need to turn their soap box around and get a new perspective…or come up with more hobbies to keep them busy. I’ve never understood this mentality, that vocal feminists have, or the politics they’ve developed as a result.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)

The most striking feature on the planet Jupiter is the Great Red Spot, a storm that resembles a giant unblinking eye. It has lasted over 300 years and is wider than the planet Earth. I invite you to regard it as your symbol of power in the coming weeks. Think of it whenever you’d like to use your eyes to see in bigger and better ways, or whenever you want to draw on the inspirational power of a beautiful storm, or whenever you’d like to transform some disturbance in your life into a long-lived source of dazzling energy.

Um, I’ll have to think on that one….

My political rant for today:

Dear J. McCain,

I am one of the moderates of this country that you are trying to court.  I can’t believe you put out a television spot claiming Obama, effectively, is the anti-Christ.  YOU AREN’T ANY BETTER THAN HIM!!!!!  Quit fooling yourself.  I’m already not going to vote for him, but you’re not scoring points with me, either.  I have enough people trying to pull the “a vote for _____ is a vote for Obama” and the “if you don’t vote for _______ you might as well go vote for _______” bullshit.  No matter the outcome of the election, I’m going to be sitting in Kobenhavn hanging my head in shame and trying to find the absolute amusement in the situation.  Because you are both jokes of our society,  you’re playing the games that politicians play and claim you’re not.  Yeah, you have a good bit of this population fooled, congrats.  It’s great to be the fool king of fools, doesn’t it?  *sigh*

Can we just have WW3 and get it over with already?  Russia’s up for it, and kicking them out of the global boys club ain’t gonna make them change their mind.  Just puts them out of needing to play by the rules.  And as sad as this is, right now they have the full house, even if the rest of the world is gonna hate them.

So, I spent the majority of work (since I only had a few clients who were super spread out), watching the opening ceremonies and Judo.

1. I am amazed and sad at the fact that humans can put something so beautiful together, yet find a means to try and absolutely destroy each other at the same time. Makes me think that humankind will be better off without formalized governments. I love Chinese culture and its history, but knowing that the artistic beauty of last night came at the sacrifice of all the people who have been made homeless by the Chinese government, makes the enjoyment of it quite bittersweet. And detracts from the idea of the games.

2. I found it overly disturbing that Bush and Putin were sitting and chatting, while Russia was planning and executing an invasion of Georgia.

3. I should have been paying attention to Judo for the last 3 years that I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu. But the Cuban coach is around 400lbs, and I can’t fathom how he got that way, and managed to coach a gold medalist.

PS- NBC sucks ass. Sure, make the smaller events available for us cable liberated folks, but reserve the main events for the fucking TV, at ungodly hours that only folks with TiVo can manage. You fucking suck, and you suck for not making it readable for TiVo (I looked Thursday night).

PPS- My friend Marcie is making her olympic debut in wrestling. Go watch her next week.

So, I was watching my AC360 podcasts this morning and I have one question about the recent throw down in the political arena….

McCain has put out some of his ideas on what he wants to do, Obama has put out his ideas on the economy and the war. We know, for the most part, what McCain is going to do and how he’s going to do it. But, Obama keeps talking about change (even though his ideas seem taken from the current playbook), but what changes is he actually going to make? Outside of telling what he’s not going to do, and that McCain has the wrong idea? Maybe I’m just weird, and this is why I’m not really interested in voting for either of them (McCain, because I only agree with him on a few things, but think he’ll fuck us up just as bad)…but I like to know what I’m agreeing to, not what I’m theoretically agreeing to. Which, is the main problem with the political arena, it’s a bunch of theoreticals, not an actual platform.

So, if someone can explain exactly what his plans are, please fill me in. His platform changes faster than Rob Halford can change outfits between sets, according to his website.
