Month: November 2004

So, it seems there is a Poly conference coming up in February, in a city I was planning on visiting then anyway. Now, to contemplate whether or not I want to attend.

Strange, how some things happen, and how I move in various directions, just flowing with things. I find I’m absolutely excited about the arrival of Jacob, his woman, and their kidlet. In fact, for some odd reason, I’m seriously jumpy about the kid (baby-sitting duty, here I come). I’ve never been much of a kid fan, but as my close friends start spawning, I look forward to sending them out on dates with their SOs. No, I’m not feeling some biological clock ticking, if it is, the alarm hasn’t gone off yet and it’s not loud enough. If anything, I’m just enjoying the freedom I have right now, though, I’m itching to travel. I don’t think I’ll make it through the next two months of staying in place. I’ll probably have to take some day trips to satiate my appetite, but I really want to take weekend trips (my weekend), and that itch is a pain-in-the-ass to not scratch.

Weird. I know I don’t follow the links that many people put on their posts, on a couple of forums I frequent, but damn! The hits on my site are going through the roof for the last couple of days, and they’re not even hitting the good stuff. Very weird. I came up with a poem this morning, I need to write it down sometime. But I have to wait till my client gets hold of me for this evening.

On the work front, I finally sent in my info to get the hotels taken care of for the much funness that is ProgPower. Hopefully, I can get something good worked out.

Last night WT and I went to see Team America. I am now scarred for life, but I definitely want the soundtrack. Very good flick, laughed my ass off the whole time. And seeing Michael Moore blow himself, and Mt Rushmore up, a la Islamist terrorist style was great.

In other news, I sent my Scotsman off to play soldier this morning. I missed waking up next to him, but the cats were happy to have space. I have no clue what the county workers are doing, but jackhammers are not fun to wake up to. But, now that he’s gone, I can go add my new shiney’s he’s been wanting for so long. I have some work to get done today, both paywork and housework. Shouldn’t have a problem with that, as I can do that after I catch up with the moonbird, and some before hand.

Scorpio for this week:
“A new idea is delicate,” wrote author Charles Brower. “It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn; it can be stabbed to death by a joke or worried to death by a frown on the right person’s brow.” And that’s exactly why you should be so protective of your fresh approaches and budding innovations this week, Scorpio. They may ultimately evolve into breathtaking brainstorms if they’re given room to grow. Don’t discuss them with anyone except sensitive people who respect you.

Ok, as many of you with driver’s licenses have indicated lacking knowledge of…

Motor Voter Laws
*please note the picture of Clinton signing it into law.

Gov’t site on Motor Voter laws

You now have 4 years to learn this stuff by heart. By knowing this, you won’t be an idiot and register multiple times, causing a greater pain in the ass for the state. It will reduce confusion at your precinct when looking for your name. And guess what?! You won’t have to run around trying to meet the registration deadline. So, simplicity….go get a driver’s license and register there. When you change your address via the DMV, you change your registration, it gets automatically sent to you within 2 weeks.

Cheers. Knowledge is power.

As most of you know, I think both sides suck, and we’d be screwed regardless the direction. So, with that said, I have two wonderful people in my life who have pointed things to say in different facets. Many of you on my friend’s list have already read them, and for those of you who haven’t, I offer them to you.

Two well written posts, by two of my favourite people:

Moonbird

My Scotsman

You know you’re loved at work, when your b-day cake consists of chocolate covered strawberries heaped on a chocolate drenched chocolate cake. If only Susan were here. She’d be in heaven.

I was once asked, during a game, if I planned where my piece would be after my shot. I said No. I have a better answer that more related to the way I live my life.

I spend most of my day planning where I will be, or what will be in place long-term after a decision is made and carried out. That’s how I make my decisions, what are all the possibilities of an out-come and how will it effect things later. Sometimes, I need to not do that. Do mindless things that I can just walk through, with my brain pretty much turned off. Games are one of those things. They allow me to just sit back and be completely oblivious to how my decision is going to change the final outcome. It’s not life or death, it’s not anything close. Just pure fun. 🙂

Took me 10 minutes to vote this morning, and I still made it to my meeting on-time, even on city transportation. Cthulu might have a chance this year, as either Pres. or CEO of Dekalb Co., GA. I figure the current CEO is up there, as he likes to kill off the people he doesn’t like, as well, so why not add Cthulu there. I really don’t understand how all the people who were challanging him on the opposing ticket, managed to not be on the ballot. If ever there was a point in time, when I thought I lived in Chicago, but not actually there, I do now. Seriously, Southern attempts at mob-like actions are pretty lame. They can’t even come up with an interesting way to take out a hit on someone. Down to the point they leave the body in the driveway, where they can be traced to it. Pathetic.

In other news, my metalhead friends are hilarious….
