Pretty much, with the level of firepower that the US Army has, and the level of sharpshooters (though the Marines and Army disagree on how well the other shoots) that we have, if we really wanted reporters dead, we’d succeed. Another point, is the fact that many of the journalists getting injured and killed aren’t embedded journalists, they’re freelancers or cameramen that various companies pick up in the area. They haven’t been trained to be in a war zone, and they insist on getting the other side of the story, but get pissy when the other side of the story is a target and they’re in the middle of it. Ryan suggested white helmets with “Reporter” on the front of it. Of course, then they’d bitch that they can’t get the story because everyone would see the helmet. Funny how that works, ain’t it?
