Scorpio for this week:

In preparation for my public readings and performances, I often ask my hosts to make sure that there are pussy willows and pomegranates placed near the podium, along with a pint of absinthe, a jump rope woven from hemp for use in my interactive rituals, and a box of slave-free, non-GMO, organic vegan chocolates. What about you, Scorpio? What items would you demand in your rider if you were asked to speak about your philosophy of life to a curious audience? It’s an ideal time to meditate on this matter. According to my astrological analysis, you will soon be in the spotlight, will be encouraged to spread your influence more forcefully, and will have openings to ask for what you want with aggressive clarity.

FreeWill Astrology

I guess I would have to ask myself why I would need props to make myself comfortable enough to be in the spotlight. Is it to distract me from realizing I’m in a spotlight, and thus reduce my problems with being in a spotlight? Or is so that I may be more ready to explain my points so that they may be understood in full, and not mistaken for something else?

With that said, I hate spotlights, I hate being in them. I prefer the lowkey stuff behind the scenes and the quiet recognition, than the public announcements. I reserve the light for my friends who enjoy it.

Scorpio for this week:

In his book Cosmos and Psyche, Richard Tarnas says the planets don’t emit invisible forces that shape our destinies as if we were puppets. Rather, they are signals of the unfolding evolutionary pattern. Just as clocks tell time but don’t create it, the heavenly bodies show us the big picture but don’t cause it. Quoting ancient Greek philosopher Plotinus, Tarnas writes “the stars are like letters that inscribe themselves at every moment in the sky. Everything in the world is full of signs. All events are coordinated. All things depend on each other. Everything breathes together.” Can you work yourself into a state in which you perceive this sublime interconnectedness, Scorpio? You desperately need to. If you can, you won’t have to be an astrologer to catch profound glimpses of the overarching purpose and meaning of your life. Everything in the world, not just the planets’ positions, will be full of signs for you to read.

Almost like any good seer, they will see the path that is currently being walked, and see the end. Because that is the way it exsists now, until some change is made to that path to redirect it elsewhere.

Little late on this:

Scorpio for this week:

Like a bird, you seem to have the ability to defy gravity lately. You’re acting with the expansiveness that comes from having a wide-ranging, high-in-the-sky view of life. Sometimes you remind me of a thunderbird, which among Native Americans was a mythical raptor that carried messages between spiritual beings. Its eyes unleashed lightning and its enormous wings beat so hard that they spawned storms. But sometimes, Scorpio, you’re more like a nightingale–a small, graceful songbird that sings beautiful, complicated songs at night when no other bird is singing. Congratulations on your versatility. Only you could pull off being half-thunderbird and half-nightingale.

Scorpio for this week:

The U.S. Congress creates a constant stream of new legislation, but that doesn’t mean President Bush has to enforce it. Since he took office in 2001, in fact, Bush has chosen to disobey more than 750 freshly minted laws. At the risk of getting you in trouble with the powers-that-be, I’m advising you to make Bush your role model in the coming week. Try to get away with ignoring any rules of the game you don’t like or agree with. To maximize your chance of sailing through unscathed, proceed as Bush does–in a stealth mode, not calling attention to the fact that you’re in a rebel outlaw mode.

FreeWill Astrology

Can I please enlist Thoreau instead? I much preferred his version of Civil Disobedience, of course, I think Bush proceeds in stealth mode, because he’s too stupid to realize he’s breaking the law. I highly doubt this is a case of “I just didn’t know”. And maybe this has to do with work…..*eg* We all know how I love to make things difficult for my Annoying Boss.

Speaking of which, apparently, he wants me to drop my paperwork off to him at his house, because he’s too lazy to drive into work.

Scorpio for this week:

In the course of my life, I’ve known five people whom I consider feral. They weren’t raised by wolves in the wild, but they have qualities that make it seem as if they could have been. They regularly get wild glints in their eyes, and are given to sudden expulsions of anomalous noises that express manic amusement mixed with inscrutable emotions. They can survive while traveling in foreign lands despite having little money, and even when they’re home they’re prone to taking long rambles in the middle of the night. They couldn’t care less what anyone thinks of them, and rarely do what anyone expects them to do. These feral folks are disruptive but not dangerous, and they confound my beliefs about human nature in the most entertaining ways. Even if you don’t fit this description, Scorpio, you’d be wise to flirt with your own brand of feral behavior in the coming weeks. It’s time to untame yourself.

FreeWill Astrology

As I have time this evening, I’ll be adding to this one. Otherwise, may I just say that a feral freak is not a wholly good idea. I guess mildly domesticated would be better, as certain controls must be evident before I can really let go. And it’s seriously dangerous.

Scorpio for this week:

Most modern religions propose that we need intermediaries–priests, priestesses, rabbis, imams, monks–to get connected to the divine source. In contrast, many ancient Gnostics believed that every person could be in charge of creating his or her own link to spirit. Indeed, anyone might contribute fresh insights and revelations to the body of ever-evolving spiritual truths. The equivalent today would be if the Bible were regarded as an unfinished text to which every Christian or Jew could add new content. This is a perfect astrological moment for you to try out this perspective, Scorpio: the do-it-yourself approach to creating your own religion. You now have the power to be your own priest, priestess, rabbi, imam, or monk.

No commentary right now. Too tired.

Scorpio for this week:

After playing in bands for years, I ripened into a half-decent songwriter and singer. My last project World Entertainment War was signed to a contract with MCA Records and released a CD, but meager sales precipitated my exit from the music business in 1995. Fast forward to this week. While scavenging around the Web via Google, I made an unexpected discovery: On many music lyric sites, one of the songs I wrote, “Marlboro Man Jr.,” has for years been mistakenly credited to Blink-182, a band that has sold over 10 million records. I was shocked. How could it have taken me so long to find out? This incident should serve as a metaphor for you, Scorpio. Find out whether your work, ideas, or energy have been used by or attributed to other people without your knowledge.

FreeWill Astrology

Work or ideas, depends on whether money was made off it, energy….no one steals that without problems. Though, given that my poetry has been on my site for years, guess I should see if someone was dumb enough to steal it.

Scorpio for this week:

In her poem “Possession,” Jane Shore describes how the “La Brea tar pits/ keep disgorging ancient bones, squeezing them/ through the oily black muscles of earth/ to the surface.” She’s referring to the place in Los Angeles where there are lakes of natural asphalt that contain the fossils of ancient mammals. These grails of ancient goo, with their seemingly endless new supply of primeval treasures, serve as an excellent metaphor for the psychic terrain you’re inhabiting these days.

FreeWill Astrology

That gives a new meaning to psychic gas. :/

Scorpio for this week:

According to mythologist Michael Meade, real warriors are those who are experts at avoiding violence. They know how to prevent the escalation of conflict. They’re skilled at resolving problems before they explode. In fact, Meade says, war breaks out only when there are no authentic warriors involved in the situation. In this spirit, Scorpio, I exhort you to cultivate your skills as a warrior. You can be instrumental in dispersing the brewing tension well before it erupts into a brawl.

FreeWill Astrology

Yes and no. Right now, the path I believe is right, is to stir things up, not diffuse them. One issue, yes, it needs to be calmed. The other, no. Without the stir, there will be no change. I think another aspect of the warrior, especially in the realm of the priest warrior. Knowing when to stir up change, and when to calm change.

“We should take astrology seriously,” says zoologist Richard Dawkins. “No, I don’t mean we should believe in it. I am talking about fighting it seriously instead of humoring it as harmless fun.” In his view, astrology is a bogus discipline that fosters superstition and undermines clear thinking. Opposing Dawkins’ perspective was that of seminal psychologist Carl Jung, one of the 20th century’s greatest thinkers. “Astrology represents the summation of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity,” he wrote. He routinely used astrological birth charts to help understand his psychotherapy patients. Dawkins and Jung can’t both be right, can they? I suggest you entertain the possibility that they are, Scorpio. In fact, try this dual approach with every major idea you care about. Experiment with what happens when you assume that both sides of every story have a piece of the truth.

Oh nooooooooooo! That damned duality thing again!!!!!!! So I guess we’re considering a balance between fantasy and reality.

“Love is being stupid together,” said French poet Paul Valéry. While there’s an element of truth to that, it’s too corny and decadent for my tastes. I prefer to focus on a more interesting truth, which is this: Real love is being smart together. If you weave your destiny together with another’s, he or she should catalyze your sleeping potentials, sharpen your perceptions, and boost both your emotional and analytical intelligence. Your relationship becomes a crucible in which you deepen your understanding of the way the world works.

So true. It’s about growing as individuals, together. And sparking that growth in each other. Wish I had managed to come up with something like that…
