The only reason this scares me is because it will be federal level and networked. Hrm, trying to circumvent the recent problem with the DOJ regarding D&E procedures?????

Hell, get most americans on a health insurance plan, and they’ll get the electronic medical records as a free bonus. The insurance companies already do that shit.

Yes, but the insurance companies end up as a shield between the gov’t and the insuree. In this instance, there would be no shield. For the records to remain confidential, one would have to opt out of this plan. Ryan’s suggestion is for cards that have the info stored on them, anytime one visits a Dr. the new info is coded on to the cards and info can’t be downloaded off of them. I like that idea, with the caveat of losing the card being a negative. But I really don’t like the fact that my records would be placed where someone in the gov’t could have access to them without me knowing about it.

Good point that. I would still be inclined to think having a nationally networked privately run system would be better off.

That would work. But installing a cabinet level position means it’s a governmental run system, which is not what we need. 🙂
