  1. Hahaha…monkey fuckers.

This is why I chose to take the Buddhist approach to this issue. If it were a punishment, it is only because we inflicted it on ourselves – actually, more specifically, it was spawned by a handful of super irresponsible people in the early 80s who preferred monkeys to people as partners. Now look where it led us. Tsk, tsk, tsk…

God has nothing to do with this. Silly pastor.

    1. I’m more of the scientific POV. There’s no real determination of why people get AIDS, outside of habits and constitution (some people are able to fend it off easier than others). It’s not a punishment at all. As far as Eastern medical philosophy goes, it’s usually the result of elementals being out of balance, which brings about the body climate to contract the disease.

In all honesty, I think it was a cop-out by the pastor to avoid responsibility.

      1. Responsibility or accountability? I’ve found lately that people are very afraid of the latter, yet much more eager to take on the former.

      2. After watching this guy, I think he’d avoid accountability as well. He came off as “anything that happens to you is God’s punishment” so he probably wouldn’t even consider the use of condoms during sex because what’s going to happen is going to happen regardless the precautions you take.

      3. I agree.

I just find it utterly hillarious that people (such as said pastor) are quick to point fingers to someone or something. Anything “bad” has always been seen as “God’s punishment” ever since the Dark Ages.

The fact of the matter is that the disease simply exists and therefore simply “is”. His I-am-mightier-than-thou stance is a result of his fear of accountabilty (or responsiblity, or both). Mr. Pastor pulling a Pontius Pilate (ooo, cool alliteration).

      4. So he probably won’t mind if someone cocks one into the chamber and let’s it fly into his dome. I mean…it was going to happen whether or not the trigger was pulled. Gotta love guys like him.

  2. Yeah, I saw this issue in a friend’s journal, and some similar sentiments were discussed.

In general, it’s people like this guy who make non-Christians look at Christians as bad people. Oh, and did you hear that he said, “God made me do it?” In another place in his journal that I can’t find now, posted a link to the local newspaper’s article on the sign, and the pastor’s reason was the ever popular, “God told me to.” ~shakes head sadly~ If that’s the kind of divine intervention his God is giving, I don’t want it.
