I have my concert date back. Kindof. I’m hoping he can make the show next week, because I’d love to spend some time with him. I figure if all my paperwork for the loan gets done, I’ll see if he wants to get lunch on Friday after I go pay off my car. It feels great.

The moonbird and I were talking last night, about putting various past people out of my life. Well, they are. Lack of respect leads to lack of life in my world. Besides, the Marine warrants more respect and admiration than most of the people I’ve been interested in.

Which brings up another thing…at last night’s discussion we were talking about hero’s and those we look up to. I commented that I was screwed because the person I look up to is a career marine sniper. Not just because he has my dream job, but the guy has qualities that I feel I need to get back to. The ability to brush things off as they happen, to not let other’s opinions of him get to him, the ability to fill multiple roles, yet still be this guy who’s nice, has a wicked sense of humour, and absolute love of life. It’s great to have him back.

  1. Doesn’t sound as though you’re screwed at all! If there are qualities in this person you wish to emulate, then that’s a good thing. Hell, I look up to so many people around me– there are qualities in you, in Darkerdays, in Tristania, Karlita, Alekto, etc, etc, etc that I really admire and hope to develop in myself.

I’m glad the Marine has come back out of hiding!

    1. absolutely nothing, outside of the fact i love his arrogance (he’s earned it), and his job. he’s got my dream job, most people wouldn’t consider being a sniper a dream job, but if the marines would let me do it i’d sign up in a heartbeat.

      1. It’s a tough job, one that few people can do well, and gets scared hostility from the bad guys way out of proportion to the amount of actual physical damage a smart sniper is going to do. Even the good guys don’t like you all the time, for superstitious reasons. Nothing that I can see in that that doesn’t deserve at leas a lot of respect.

      2. that’s my opinion. for a target, he holds that person’s life in his hands, it’s something he has to deal with anytime he’s asked to go in. and unlike police snipers, he’s required to kill the target in question, regardless. plus, he’s not the run-of-the-mill marine grunt, i find talking to him to be enlightening and the various things he’s intimately aware of. not something you run into with everyday people.
