Scorpio for the week of Sept 4, 2003

“According to historian Thomas Fleming, in the early part of his career George Washington was a brilliant spy. “He ran espionage rings in British-held New York and Philadelphia,” says Fleming. “The man who supposedly could not tell a lie was a genius at disinformation.” Later, of course, Washington became the head of the first United States government, where he conducted himself more straightforwardly. The way I see your life right now, Scorpio, you’re ready to negotiate a transition analogous to the one George Washington made. Is there a situation where you have been a master of stealth and surreptitious strategy? That’s exactly where you should now act with articulate candor and forthright leadership.”

Ok, this weekend kicked ass!!!!!! annoyingwoman, you were sooooooooo right about Evergrey. I wasn’t able to get their autographs on your shirt, but you’ve got a shirt and I’ll have pictures posted sometime this weekend! I have such awesome friends, seriously. I’m on the ‘in’ crowd of ProgPower now, got to hang out backstage, got pics and everything. My gods, I don’t even know how to verbalize everything, outside of the fact my neck is going to hate me tomorrow. Right now, I can’t hold my head up straight so I’m stretching my neck instead. Fuck yeah! I’ve found a potential problem, as far as band performances go. In order to throw my head around in any manner, I have to be holding onto something stable so I can close my eyes. Because my equilibrium is so far off, keeping my eyes open while headbanging not only gives me eye strain, but it also means I fall around, including the floor. So, eyes closed, static hold and I’m good to go! Holy fuck I’m in heaven right now. And in 6 hours, I have to go help clean up a camp ground. I’m fucking psycho!

This evening also rocketh. I got the chance to notice one thing about Vanden Plas….the guitarist, he looks like a borderline anorexic lokasenna, complete with the same facial expressions while headbanging, same smile, even the same occassional blank stare. I loved it. Nightwish kicketh ass!!!!! Seriously, if anyone, and I mean anyone, wants to see a concert where every single band kicks ass, this is the one to spend your money on. And who can complain when you can hear Nightwish covering the Ozzman. *eg*

Oh yeah, on look alike notes, the guitarist for Nightwish, looks like an albino scottopic. I’m riding soooooooooo high.

Ok, I’m awake. Last night was just kick ass! It was so cool to walk up to a couple of the guys from Nightwish and say, “Hey, when you guys are ready to go back to your hotel, just find me and I’ll take you.” I got to hang out with Symphony X, pick up the entire group of Vanden Plas, haul a very drunken Circle II Circle back to the hotel (I’m also on their vidcam, though in skewed angles due to formentioned drunkeness). One of the cool things, is that I met up with a guy I knew from Texas. He was sitting in one of the chairs, looked familiar, so I walked up to him and asked if he’d lived in Texas. It went from there. Pretty cool. The guys that run this thing are so bloody cool, I’m definitely planning on doing this again next year. Ran into my net friends, got to talk with them for a bit, but ducked out because after coming back from picking up Vanden Plas, I saw the MP Marine had come back from Iraq. So after running after Circle II Circle, I snuck back to chat with him. Soooooooooooo, cool. He doesn’t have my pictures of dead people, though. Fucking gov’t, they wouldn’t let them take any. 😛 Oh yeah, I have a friend that will be very, very happy. I got the sigs of a band he likes. *eg*

To annoyingwoman: Evergrey was not there, yet. They won’t be around till tomorrow. If I can get close to them, I’ll take care of ya. 😉

The Marine called me today, out of the blue, said he was going to stop by. He didn’t, so I called him back. Two of his numbers no longer work and the business line was hitting the answering machine. Odd, guess I’ll call back tomorrow to see about new numbers. I’m feeling a bit better about some things, and still iffy on others. Tomorrow I begin carting around various band members for ProgPower, and Friday, I get to find out how much my Scotsman might be into my music. This is kinda cool, and kinda scary. Why? Because I’ve begun to view my music tastes as my own little piece of the world that I didn’t share. Now that’s being threatened, but in a good way, I think. Needless to say, this should be interesting, to say the least. After this weekend, we move on to Type O Neg. Somehow, I don’t think that one is going to go over terribly well, but we shall see.

D*Con – the end:

Today was cool, got shopping stuff, including some custom candle sticks for my home alter. Verra cool. Staring and drooling paid off, got Lani Tupu’s autograph, with pic *eg*. I’m tired as hell, couldn’t get to sleep till 5 this morning. I’m still feeling fuzzy on where I stand in perspective to my group of friends. I feel distant, though most of that is self-created. I know I need to move scenes again, going more towards the metal crowd and away from the gothy crowd. I don’t know, there’s drama in every scene, but lately it seems like the drama is the only thing I have in commonality, to discuss, with anyone else. It makes me feel like I’m slacking in some area and need to move on. I miss my friends in Cali, and even a few in Texas. Not sure what I want, again. I do feel more confident in my music, and I’m working on that realm on my own. Sometimes, I’m just not sure on where I stand on anything.

Con – Day 3:

Much, much better!!!!!! I spent most of the morning discussing privacy issues in the EFF panels and the rest of the day shopping and with friends. Along with my most sincerest apologies for jumping the gun. I was hoping I was explaining myself enough to show that I wasn’t sure about the situation, but I wanted to make sure that my suspicions weren’t baseless. I spent some of the evening at both the Voltaire and Godhead concerts. Again, hotel security was a bunch of bullshit. In the atrium, around the elevator, it’s like a big giant circle. So, the hotel security was trying to get everyone to walk in circles. Resulting in the inability to head over to the cafe, without cutting through the bar or restaurant area. Needless to say, it was a bunch of ill-thought idiocy. Went and started a Crais, again, for a bit. Got some more drooling out of the way. Almost got run over by the guy who, originally, played the Hulk, which was cool. Spent time with iriedanym again, always a joy *grin*.

One thing I have noticed about myself. I seem to find that I’m becoming a bit socially inept around a few friends of mine. I’m not sure what the situation is, though it does feel like communication between them and me is a bit faltering on more occassions than not. Odd. Anyway, off to bed now.
