Ok, so here’s the review: The first band, Lilitiu was actually pretty good. I was impressed and actually happy I showed up early. The singer could actually sing and the band actually knew how to play their instruments. Yakuza sucks, royally. They were the second band, and apparently decided to really piss off the people by playing an extra 20 min., because everyone was calling for them to get off the stage. Just imagine this, a shitty band with a singer that sounds like a goose in the throws of death on a sax (it’s the sax that was the goose, the singer was assisting by obviously not making it through Jr High band). Lacuna Coil is just absolutely awesome. Besides having an goddess for a lead singer, they know their instruments and they use the growling vocals in a manner that doesn’t offend, like some other ‘bands’ from overseas. I was actually depressed that they had to make room for Opeth. Now, for them…in all honesty, I probably would have enjoyed them more if I was so fucking tired by the time they took the stage. Not to mention, they take forever to make it through one song. According to the cool guy I met there, I left at the perfect time, because they took another 30 min before ending the show.
Now, speaking of the cool guy I met there. Talk about an interesting pick-up line. I got to the show early, so I could stake my space out in the bar area. One guy walks up and starts talking to me, briefly. Next thing I know, I hear “Hey, you waiting for friends?” Answer, “Yeah”. Reply, “So do you want to entertain me?” How’s that for good? Anyway, he turned out to not be a psycho, and instead a cool guy from the Bronx, that somehow ended up in Tennessee. So, that was my concert night.
Kitty update: Found his hiding place, left some food, went back this morning and food was gone. Set out some new food laced with catnip and I’m going to check later before I head to ritual. Otherwise, my Scotsman and I have a pretty good plan for catching him. Otherwise, it’s climbing around and checking food before heading into work. But, he is safe, has lost some weight, and hopefully leaving the food for him will alleviate that.
