For those who believe people with strong beliefs about something can make a difference:

1. I have been and am still part of lobbying groups – national and state

2. I don’t have to vote to be able to bitch about the current state of affairs. I didn’t vote because there was no one to vote for. There was no choice, in this election, that I believed could handle two of the arenas necessary to handle as president.

3. As much as I’d love to run for an office, I don’t think the south is ready for a pagan to hold any type of public office, so that knocks me out of the running.

4. Even if I did make it into a law creating position, I’d commit suicide in my first term because of all the stupidity.

Now, if you want to consider those cop-outs, go for it. They’re my beliefs and opinions in regards to the stupidity of everything that is going on. I’ll be much happier when I’m dead and don’t have to deal with the idiots I do now.

  1. Lobby Groups

The current crop of Federal Legislation is going to be stopped in the courts. Congress has already had a chance to read the fall out from the Patriot Act. They have a hard time listening some times. Witness the CDA, CDA II, COPA, COPA II and other Speech related bills that congress passed. They weren’t omnibus bills like the Patriot act, but the violated Constitutional protections and were eventually declared unconstitutional by the courts. The courts will make slow but meaningful work of the Patriot Act. The EFF and ACLU just need to work a bit more on the cases they have to work with. Eventually the Patriot Act will snare the wrong person and the lobby/court groups will have sauce for the goose.

I belong to the EFF, the NRA, SAF and the ACLU. All four have a strong voice because I give them money and call legislators when the lobby groups give me the heads up about something I’m likely to be concerned about.

Ok, as previously stated, I’m part of lobbying groups :). I understand how they work and how things get done. However, the groups I am and have been part of are fighting uphill battles (remember, I’m a member of the WWF). The only reason I haven’t joined NOW is because I don’t agree with almost all of their policies, abortion being the exception. I even have issues with the ACLU to the point that I wouldn’t join their ranks. Point being, I’ve done my lobbying duty and I’m worn out and frustrated by the whole process, nothing has seriously been done in regards to any issues I support and I’m at the point where I’m caught between caring and not giving a shit because stupidity will reign supreme. Hence why I think I’ll be happier dead, at least then the government would hold no sway over my opinion, positive or negative.
