Month: May 2004

I’m back from Starbridge. Festival was….interesting. My campsite is starting to look totally awesome. Cleaned out the car (including a good mopping) and I managed to get my tub re-caulked. Sometime this week I’ll finish caulking the rest of the tile seams, then I’ll do the killz touch-ups and THEN, I’ll bleach the tiles so it doesn’t look so fur-bally. Slowly, but surely, I’ll have this house cleaned before the 25th.

In the meantime, I seriously need to find a new chiropractor. My neck is seizing up and all the work I’m doing on the surrounding muscles is aggravating it even more. 😛

In 45 min, I head out to make my priest’s daughter’s hair….blue. For graduation. *grin* This should be fun!

In other news, my new job is going to have me travelling!!!!!! *fingers crossed* Hoping it’ll be good enough to ditch the store within 3 months.

Yippee for me!!! I made it through a day of work, 2 fun-filled hours at the gym, and a yoga class!!!!

I can definitely tell my shoulders have rested *crosses fingers that muscle fibers don’t break too badly by morning*

Oh yeah, diet change is helping….I just hate eating all the time 😛

Went to see Troy last night. Contrary to Work Twin #2’s assertion that the movie would barely be tolerable with Brad Pitt’s kiester being plastered on a big screen, it wasn’t really that bad. On its own, it stands quite well as a piece of work. The one-on-one fight scenes got a bit repetative, but they were few and far between. I actually hit a point where I was getting pissed because it looked like the evilness of greed was going to win. Thankfully, it was just the added suspense for freaks like me. But I liked. Unfortunately, I need to work on my late-night attitude. Wasn’t terribly chipper afterwards, and I have many apologies for later, to make.

Ok, first and foremost….does the Shrublet think he’s so awesome that he can stall traffic on a main thoroughfaire for 4 hours? Seriously, I hope he was over-run with protestors for this. And on top of that, they’re nice enough to announce it in a newspaper that no one (except the insanely bored employees of the Hodge room) reads in the morning.

Other than that, I’m still slightly on the irritated side, but actually making efforts to work through it. The diet change seems to be helping, on the glucose side, but we’ll have to wait a month to find out how it’s doing on the health maintenance side. I figure I’ll start using my Sunday mornings for a kickass cardio session, with the sauna/shower alternating. To an extent, I’m starting to feel like I’m in a constant suspension in liminal space. I’m a here-nor-there whore, because the feeling is a drug high, but damned, I have to come down sometime.

EDIT: Yah for the trannies!!!!!

AnotherADA wins the day

So, last night, in my morbid curiousity, I watched the rest of the video clip (the part that doesn’t get played). I’m not shocked at the actions of soldiers at Abu Ghraib, and to an extent, I’m not shocked about what I saw on that video clip. However, anything we do over there is a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. In comparison, I think the men to had the audacity to do what they did to Mr. Berg are a bunch of pussies. Why? Because they all wore masks and gave no inkling about who they were. We know who the men and women are in those pictures, and we will know the men and women, who’s feet were there and who’s fingers clicked the shutter button. They are facing the penalties of their actions. These children, are fearful of the reprisal they know will come when we find them. They claim it’s for revenge of the men and women. I want to know which women they’re talking about, because as far as their opinion goes, women aren’t allowed in battle (except as a shield). It defies my logic.

Of course, I’m also of the opinion that there isn’t such a thing as a gentleman’s war. Yes, the Celts had their version of champion against champion, but I don’t see that happening in this case. War is war, it is ugly and it is inhumane. The goal is to be victorious, and that includes less-than-ethical behaviour on occassion. In this situation, there are two sets of rules, ours and theirs. There are going to be lines that have to be crossed in order to force their hand to our rules. They know that capturing and doing something like this, to a military serviceman (women included in that) will result in something worse…so they target the civilians. These are people who don’t have the protection servicemen do, and they’re not as cautious. They make for the easier target. Granted, I approve of the fact that contractors are over there trying to help these people. I don’t approve of the fact that we can’t provide enough security for them. IMO, it’s not the military’s job to provide that security, right now. If they want that, they can wait till we have the country completely secured, or go to areas that are and not in Baghdad. The military is there to quash an uprising, they have their hands full and don’t need to be babysitting. Private security firms are over there to do that job, and they should be protecting all contractors, regardless how much they’re paying that specific firm.

//End rant

So I am feeling the wonder-high of a good workout. Unfortunately, this weekend shoved me back up a few pounds. My body fat count will be measured again on Thursday, hopefully that is down a bit *fingers crossed*

In other news, my appt for my interview is scheduled after work tomorrow, so hopefully the work twins will be forgiving and willing to put the movie off for one more day. C10 kicked major ass, if I haven’t said that already. The planners did a wonderful job and I got to spend time with my friends and net acqaintences that I like, including some new ones.

I’m finally in the process of reading erynn999‘s book Circle of Stones. I’ve had it on my Amazon wish list for a while, and figure I’ll snag 2 copies (to replace my priestess’ copy) when I can. I’ll do some more focusing on it once I’m fully settled and can devote time to the meditations and information.

One of these days, I’ll be balanced enough to put more energy and focus towards my studies. My goal is to integrate everything into my life. As far as work goes, I’m doing a decent job with that, though I’d like to create my sessions into something more Western mystical-based than Eastern. Of course, the fact that I’m hoarding up Chinese and Japanese tools doesn’t help. Granted, I’m finding a system that works quite well in the mixture. I stick with the Tao and early folk systems instead of Buddhism, oddly enough, I’m finding they mesh with my budding Celtic system quite nicely. And one of these days, I’ll get time enough to study the Tantras more indepth to incorporate them. *sigh* So much info, so little time. 😛

Ok, I’m back.

Stormed the castle (the Field Museum) with annoyingwoman yesterday and snagged a nifty Qing style bell set for my workroom and a new CD, from the Forbidden City exhibit. Still haven’t heard from work on the second interview, they called as I was heading out of town and said I’d need to talk to someone else to schedule – who’s number I didn’t have on hand. Called him today and waiting to hear back. Very annoying.

C10 kicked ass. Got to see the gf for an evening and insult a waiter or two at Ed Debevic’s. Found nifty cool shoes and a skirt I’ve been wanting for the longest time. *woohoo!*

Mother’s day was spent in cemetaries (and a museum), called my mum that evening. The drive home wasn’t that bad, but I’m finding my night driving to be horrendous. I’m not sure if I was being paranoid or if people actually weren’t paying attention to the fact they were trying to cross in front of a fast moving vehicle. My problem was the fact that my eyes weren’t focusing properly, so one could see fine and the other was blurry. Not sure what was causing that, and not happy with that either.

Now, nap time….again.

I am here. Chi-town, the loverly town I’ve missed for a long time. Not staying long because I have to be ready for an interview sometime on Monday (thank the gods I took the day off). I can’t find my Palm, think it fell out of my bag in the car, so I’m missing some of your phone numbers. *hint hint*

I’ve got several new pairs of shoes now, couple new t-shirts and looking for a new corset. Had the chance yesterday, but didn’t find one that fit. 😛

But, tonight I get the former gf and the former lover to hang with. Hoping to hear from legendofthehawk, angellam, and annoyingwoman *this is another hint* We’re planning on hitting Navy Pier and it’d be a good place to meet up and destroy something, or someone. Right????
